Best Jaipur To Chandratal Tour Packages Curated By Experts

All Jaipur To Chandratal Packages

If you are searching for a Chandratal tour package from Jaipur, you probably need more than a fixed itinerary. You need the right route, the right number of days, and the right version of the trip for the time you actually have. Chandratal is a glacial lake at 4,300 metres in the mountains between Lahaul and Spiti. Getting there from Jaipur involves either a train or flight to Delhi or Chandigarh, a road transfer to Manali, and then a mountain drive through some of the roughest, most beautiful terrain in Himachal Pradesh. The trip can be done in as few as 5 to 6 days if you focus on Chandratal alone. Or it can expand to 8 to 10 days if you combine the lake with Kaza, Spiti's monasteries, and the high villages. Both versions are worth doing. The right one depends on your leave, your comfort with mountain roads, and how much you want to see. Travel Coffee is a Himachal focused travel brand with real route understanding and local ground teams. We do not sell mass market packages. We help you pick the right version of the trip and plan it around conditions, altitude, and how you actually travel. Want help choosing the right Chandratal route from Jaipur? Talk to someone who knows these roads. Send us your dates, group size, and how many days you have, and we will put together a plan that works. Three Ways to Do This Trip from Jaipur Option 1: Short Chandratal Trip from Jaipur Best for: Working professionals with 5 to 6 days. Couples wanting a focused mountain escape. Travellers who want the lake without a full circuit. Ideal Duration: 5 to 6 days. What it offers: You reach Manali via Delhi or Chandigarh, drive to Chandratal through the Atal Tunnel and Batal, camp one night near the lake, and return to Manali before heading home. Why choose this: You want Chandratal and only Chandratal. You are comfortable with long drives and do not mind the pace. You have limited leave and want to use it efficiently. If this sounds right, share your dates and we will plan the route. Option 2: Jaipur to Chandratal Plus Kaza Package Best for: Travellers who want a bit more than just the lake. Couples and friend groups who can spare 6 to 8 days. Photography enthusiasts. Ideal Duration: 6 to 8 days. What it offers: You get Chandratal plus a day or two in Kaza exploring Key Monastery, Kibber, Langza, and the high villages. The route enters from Manali, crosses Kunzum Pass, and loops through Kaza before returning. Why choose this: The lake is the highlight, but Kaza and the monasteries add depth. You spend a little more time but the return on those extra days is significant. Tell us your dates and we will build the right version of this package. Option 3: Full Spiti with Chandratal from Jaipur Best for: First time Spiti travellers with 8 to 10 days. Families. Groups wanting a complete journey. Ideal Duration: 8 to 10 days. What it offers: A full Shimla entry, Kinnaur, Spiti, Chandratal, Manali exit circuit. Gradual acclimatisation. Monasteries. Cold desert. High villages. And Chandratal as the quiet climax near the end. Why choose this: You came all the way from Jaipur. The full circuit uses your travel days wisely and delivers a journey that feels genuinely complete. Send us your travel month and group size. We will shape the itinerary around your pace. Why This Page Is Built for Jaipur Travellers The Jaipur Leg Matters Jaipur is about 5 to 6 hours from Delhi by road or train, and about 10 to 12 hours from Chandigarh. That transit layer needs to be factored into your total trip days. A Chandratal trip that takes 4 days from Delhi needs at least 5 from Jaipur. Joining City Options Most Jaipur travellers join the mountain trip from Delhi or Chandigarh. Delhi is closer and has better connectivity. Chandigarh saves road time to Manali (7 to 8 hours versus 12 to 14 from Delhi). Your best joining city depends on your route, your budget, and whether you want the shorter or longer version. Leaves Required For a short Chandratal trip from Jaipur: plan on 5 to 6 working days. For the Chandratal plus Kaza version: 6 to 8 days. For the full Spiti circuit: 8 to 10 days. Add a day if you want buffer time. Which Version Suits You Couples with 5 to 6 days: the short Chandratal trip works well. Working professionals with a week: the Chandratal plus Kaza version is the sweet spot. Families or first timers with 8 or more days: the full Spiti circuit is the better investment. Route Choice: Short Trip or Full Circuit? A Faster Chandratal Trip via Manali You travel from Jaipur to Delhi or Chandigarh, then to Manali by road or bus. From Manali, you drive through the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul and onward to Chandratal via Gramphu and Batal. The lake is about 5 to 7 hours from Manali on rough mountain roads. This route works for 5 to 6 day trips. It is direct and logistically simple. The tradeoff is rapid altitude gain (Jaipur at 400 metres to Chandratal at 4,300 metres within 48 hours) and less time for acclimatisation. A Deeper Spiti Journey That Includes Chandratal You travel from Jaipur to Delhi or Chandigarh, then enter Spiti through Shimla and Kinnaur. Over 5 to 6 days, you climb gradually through green valleys, cold desert, monasteries, and high villages. Chandratal comes near the end, after Kunzum Pass, before you exit to Manali. This route takes 8 to 10 days from Jaipur. The altitude gain is gradual and much kinder on the body. The experience is richer. Chandratal feels earned rather than rushed. When to Choose Which Choose the short route if: you have limited time, you have done mountain trips before, and you specifically want the lake. Choose the full circuit if: you have a week or more, you are a first timer at high altitude, or you want the complete Spiti experience along with Chandratal. Best Selling Itinerary: 6 Days, 5 Nights Jaipur to Chandratal Plus Kaza Tour Day 1: Jaipur to Delhi or Chandigarh. Transfer Onward. Travel from Jaipur to your joining city by train, road, or flight. If arriving in Delhi, take an evening Volvo bus or arrange an overnight transfer to Manali. If arriving in Chandigarh, drive to Manali (7 to 8 hours) and check in by evening. This is a transit day. The goal is to reach Manali with minimum fatigue. Overnight: Manali or en route. Day 2: Manali to Chandratal via Atal Tunnel and Batal Leave Manali early. Drive through the Atal Tunnel into Lahaul. The landscape shifts from green pine forest to dry, open valley in minutes. Continue through Gramphu and onto the rough track toward Batal. The Batal stretch involves water crossings, loose gravel, and slow driving. After Batal, a steep 14 km road climbs to the campsite zone. You arrive by afternoon. The campsite sits about 2 km from the lake shore. Walk to the lake in the evening if energy allows, or save it for sunrise. Overnight: Chandratal campsite. Day 3: Chandratal Sunrise. Drive to Kaza via Kunzum Pass. Wake early. Walk to the lake. The morning light on Chandratal, with mist on the water and peaks catching the first warmth, is the visual highlight of the trip. After breakfast, drive to Kunzum Pass (4,590 metres). The crossing marks the boundary between Lahaul and Spiti. From Kunzum, descend through Losar and into the Spiti Valley toward Kaza. Kaza feels like a different world. Dry, wide, and calm. Check into your hotel. Rest. Overnight: Kaza. Day 4: Kaza. High Village Exploration. A full day in the heart of Spiti. Visit Key Monastery, perched on a hilltop above the river. Drive up to Kibber for wide views. Visit Langza for the golden Buddha statue and marine fossils. Stop at Hikkim to send a postcard from the world's highest post office. This is the day that gives the trip cultural depth beyond the lake. Overnight: Kaza. Day 5: Kaza to Manali via Kunzum and Atal Tunnel A long but rewarding driving day. You retrace the route through Kunzum Pass, descend past Batal and Gramphu, pass through the Atal Tunnel, and arrive in Manali by evening. After days in the cold desert, Manali's green forests and warm restaurants feel welcoming. Overnight: Manali. Day 6: Manali to Delhi or Chandigarh. Onward to Jaipur. Drive to Chandigarh or catch a morning bus to Delhi. Connect to Jaipur by train, road, or flight. The trip is complete. Who This Trip Is Ideal For Couples from Jaipur looking for a mountain getaway that is neither a resort holiday nor a standard hill station trip. The 6 day Chandratal plus Kaza version is especially popular with couples. Friend groups wanting a road trip with substance. The mountain roads, the camping night, and the Kaza exploration make for a trip that bonds people. Photography enthusiasts drawn to Chandratal's colours, Spiti's textures, and Kunzum's scale. September offers the best light. First time Spiti travellers who have enough days for the full circuit. The Shimla entry route is ideal for altitude adjustment. Working professionals from Jaipur with 5 to 8 days of leave who want to maximise the experience without wasting time on the wrong route. Who may prefer a different plan: Families with very young children may find the altitude and camping challenging. Travellers with severe respiratory or cardiac conditions should consult a doctor before booking. Anyone with fewer than 5 days from Jaipur should consider a shorter Manali or Lahaul trip instead. Package Variants Budget Shared transfers or group departure format. Basic but clean stays. Standard campsite at Chandratal. Comfortable but no frills. Best for solo travellers, backpackers, and budget conscious groups. Standard Private vehicle. Clean, well reviewed guesthouses and hotels. Good campsite with warm sleeping bags and decent meals. The version most Jaipur travellers choose. Reliable comfort without premium pricing. Premium Private Private SUV with an experienced driver. Upgraded hotels in Kaza and Manali. Better campsite with thicker mattresses and warmer gear. More flexibility on stops and timing. Best for couples, families, and travellers who want comfort on a challenging route. What Is Generally Included Transport from joining city (Delhi or Chandigarh) to Manali and onward as per itinerary. Accommodation in hotels, guesthouses, or homestays on a twin or triple sharing basis. One night camping near Chandratal with tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, and meals. Meals as specified in the package (typically breakfast and dinner on most days, all meals at camp). Experienced driver for the full duration. All road taxes, fuel, and parking charges. Basic coordination and route guidance from Travel Coffee. What Is Generally Excluded Flights or train tickets from Jaipur to the joining city and back. Meals not specified in the package. Personal expenses such as snacks, tips, and shopping. Any adventure activity, entry fee, or camera charge not mentioned. Travel insurance. Medical or emergency expenses. Anything not explicitly mentioned in the inclusions. Best Time to Visit Chandratal from Jaipur Late June to Early July The road to Chandratal typically opens during this window, depending on snow clearance at Kunzum Pass. Camps may still be setting up. Best for flexible travellers comfortable with uncertainty. July and August The most reliable window. Roads are at their most accessible. Camps are fully running. Rain is possible in August but conditions are generally cooperative. Best for most Jaipur travellers, especially first timers. September Widely considered the finest month for Chandratal. Skies clear. Light turns golden. The lake colours are at their most vivid. Camps begin closing toward late September. Plan early in the month if you can. Early October End of season. Camps may be closed. Early snowfall can block the road. Only for flexible, well prepared travellers. Best checked closer to travel. Winter The road to Chandratal is closed from November through May. No access from any direction. Important Things to Know Before Booking Altitude and Acclimatisation Jaipur sits at about 400 metres. Chandratal sits at 4,300 metres. On the short Manali route, you gain most of that altitude within 48 hours. Headaches, breathlessness, and nausea are possible. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol on the way up, and walk slowly at the campsite. Road Comfort Expectations The road from Gramphu to Batal and onward to Chandratal is rough. Water crossings, broken surfaces, and slow driving are standard. This is not a highway trip. A high clearance SUV and an experienced driver make all the difference. Camping Realities You camp in a designated zone about 2 km from the lake. Not on the shore. Tents are basic. Toilets are shared. Nights are cold, regularly dropping below 5 degrees Celsius even in summer. Bring warm layers and realistic expectations. Network and ATM Limitations Mobile signal disappears after the Atal Tunnel. Chandratal has no network. Kaza has limited connectivity. There are no ATMs between Manali and Kaza. Carry enough cash for the full trip. Travel Time from Jaipur Add at least half a day for the Jaipur to Delhi or Chandigarh leg. This means the total trip from your front door to the campsite takes roughly two full days. Plan accordingly. The Route Decision Matters Choosing between the short Manali route and the full Spiti circuit is the single most important planning decision for this trip. Get it right and the trip works beautifully. Get it wrong and you either feel rushed or run out of days. Who Should Avoid Rushing Travellers over 55, families with young children, and anyone with respiratory or cardiac conditions should plan a longer itinerary with gradual altitude gain. The short route is not ideal for everyone. Vehicle and Planning A high clearance SUV is essential for the Chandratal stretch. Sedans are not suitable. If you are joining a group departure, confirm that the final stretch uses an appropriate vehicle. Ready to Plan Your Chandratal Trip from Jaipur? Best Places to Visit on a Chandratal Trip

Chandratal Lake

Chandratal Lake

At 4,300 metres, Chandratal sits in a natural amphitheatre of barren ridges. The lake is roughly one kilometre around, crescent-shaped, and changes colour through the day. Mornings are usually still, with near-perfect reflections. The walk from camp is short but memorable, the lake appearing suddenly as you crest the final rise.

Kunzum Pass

Kunzum Pass

At roughly 4,590 metres, Kunzum La connects Lahaul to Spiti. A small temple marks the top. The pass offers wide views of snow-covered ranges and valley systems on either side. Crossing Kunzum is a defining moment in any Chandratal itinerary.

Batal

Batal

Not a village so much as a collection of roadside shelters where travellers stop for tea. It sits at the junction between the Chandratal turnoff and the Kunzum route. The landscape is raw and glacial. Batal gives you a real sense of how remote this territory is.

Sissu

Sissu

A green, relatively mild village in Lahaul Valley. Waterfalls, riverside views, and clean guesthouses make it a welcome rest point and a good acclimatization stop before pushing higher.

Losar

The first village on the Spiti side after crossing Kunzum. The valley opens up, the terrain shifts from grey rock to sandy brown, and the distinct character of Spiti begins. For combined Chandratal and Spiti trips, Losar is the gateway.

I, being a senior citizen travelled solo with Travel Coffee for Spiti Valley and Chandratal Lake for 8N/9D. It was an amazing trip, well organised with decent hotels. Vanshika from Travel Coffee supported me, took great care of me till the very end. I enjoyed a lot and am looking forward to join any upcoming trips in future

I recently completed the Spiti Valley - Chandratal Lake Tour, ending in Manali, organized by Travel Coffee. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable experience. The accommodations throughout the trip were comfortable, the food arrangements were good, and the bikes provided were well-maintained and reliable for the challenging terrain. The route itself was breathtaking, and the overall trip execution was satisfactory. There was some minor mismanagement on Day 1, primarily related to the coordination by the tour guide, which caused a bit of confusion at the start of the journey. Even when we were heading to Chandratal the backup can was never with us we completed the toughest terrain by ourselves. However, the team managed things better as the trip progressed. One area where there is definitely scope for improvement is the daily rider briefing and overall coordination among participants. A short briefing each morning covering the day's route, terrain conditions, expected riding challenges, fuel stops, road conditions, and possible traffic bottlenecks would greatly enhance the riding experience and help riders prepare better. That said, these were relatively minor issues in an otherwise well-organized adventure. The stunning landscapes, good arrangements, and overall experience made the trip worthwhile. Thank you to the Travel Coffee team for helping create some wonderful memories in Spiti Valley.

We had booked a customised Kinnaur and Spiti trip with Travel Coffee and the experience was wonderful from start to finish. Preeti helped us plan the itinerary in a very practical way, covering Narkanda, Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa, Kaza and Chandratal without making the journey too hectic. She explained the route clearly before the trip and was always available during the journey. The hotels selected for us were comfortable and had beautiful views, especially in Kalpa and Kaza. Our driver was polite, punctual and very confident on the difficult mountain roads. Overall, it was a beautifully managed Himalayan trip. We came back with lifetime memories and would definitely recommend Travel Coffee for Spiti and Kinnaur.

We completed our Spiti Valley bike trip with Travel Coffee and it was an unforgettable adventure. Ishita coordinated everything very well before the trip and helped us understand the route, riding conditions, packing list and safety points. The journey was challenging, but the planning was strong. The support team was helpful, the bikes were in good condition, and the route through Kinnaur, Kaza and Chandratal was absolutely stunning. Every day had a different kind of landscape. Spiti on a bike is not easy, but with the right team it becomes a lifetime memory. Thank you Travel Coffee for making it happen
