Main Highlight
Short format Spiti bike trip with Chandratal early, Atal Tunnel, Kunzum Pass, Kaza, high villages and farewell dinner in Manali. Only 5 working days of leave
Best Season
Late May to October
Ideal For
Working professionals, solo riders, couples, friend groups, and travellers who want a compact but real Spiti bike adventure without burning more than 5 days of leave
Know Before You Go
This is a fast paced Spiti bike expedition. You cover a lot in 7 days. If you want a relaxed slow trip, this is not the one. If you want Chandratal, Kaza and the full route without burning 10 days of leave, this is exactly the one
The route includes rough roads, water crossings, broken patches and high altitude terrain, especially between Gramphu and Batal on Days 3 and 6
Chandratal camping depends on road opening, weather and safety. This itinerary does Chandratal on Day 3 so even if weather disrupts, there is a morning attempt on Day 4 before moving to Kaza. That is a much better setup than operators who put Chandratal on the last day
On Day 3 you reach Chandratal at 4,300m after sleeping at Sissu at 3,100m. This is a significant altitude gain. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, do not overexert and report any headache or nausea to the road captain immediately
A valid driving licence is mandatory for all riders. Pillion riders can join under the Dual Rider variant. Non riders can join in the Backup Vehicle seat
Day 6 is the longest riding day at approximately 200 km. The road is the same route you covered in the opposite direction on Days 2 to 4, which gives you familiarity and confidence. An early 5 AM start is essential
Carry soft luggage only. Rucksacks or duffle bags work best. Trolley bags do not work on bike trips
Mobile network is limited around Spiti and absent at Chandratal. Carry enough cash for personal expenses. ATMs are unreliable in Spiti
Carry your own riding gear: helmet, jacket, gloves, knee guards and riding shoes. These are not included in the package

Frequently Asked Questions

Had an absolutely incredible trip exploring Manali, Solang, Sethan, Khokhsar, Sissu, and Darcha, all the way up to Shinkula Pass and Shinkula Top, thanks to Travel Coffee! A huge shoutout to Preeti Jasyal, who helped us a lot throughout the process. She is an amazing person and went above and beyond to help us create the perfect booking. The entire service was seamless and highly effective, and the hotels she selected for us were absolutely amazing with great comfort and views. Driving through those massive mountain terrains can be daunting, but their flawless coordination made the entire journey stress-free. If you're planning a trip to Leh, Ladakh, Spiti, or any of these mountain regions, Travel Coffee is the way to go!
