The overnight Volvo from Delhi takes approximately 12 to 14 hours to reach Manali. Carry a neck pillow, light blanket, and snacks for the bus journey
The Innova Crysta makes a genuine difference on the rough roads beyond Gramphu. More legroom, better suspension, and a smoother ride on gravel and water crossings compared to a standard cab
Camp conditions near Chandratal remain basic even in the preferred allocation. The upgrade is in tent quality and positioning, not hotel level amenities. It is still camping at 4,250 metres
Mobile network is patchy beyond Sissu and completely absent at Chandratal. Carry sufficient cash (Rs 3,000 to 5,000) and inform your family before you leave
Carry warm layers even in summer. Chandratal nights drop to 0 to 5 degrees even in July and August
The 1.5 km walk to the lake from the parking area is on rocky terrain. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip
