Your New Year trip begins on Monday evening from Delhi, with Chandigarh joiners boarding the same coach on the way. Meet the group at the pickup point, board the overnight Volvo, and settle in for the ride towards Shimla. Keep your warm layers and overnight things in a small bag you can reach easily. The bus rolls through the plains while you sleep, and by morning you wake up close to the hills, ready for the drive into Kinnaur.

Know Before You Go

This is a fixed New Year departure, 28 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, starting and ending at Delhi, Chandigarh or Shimla. Seats are limited, so confirm early.
Shimla joiners skip the Volvo legs: you meet the group at Shimla on the morning of 29 December and are dropped back at Shimla on 1 January.
Two of the five nights are on the overnight Volvo (to Shimla and back). The three hotel nights are Sangla (2N) and Kalpa (1N).
The overnight Volvo from Delhi to Shimla takes about 8 to 10 hours. Carry a neck pillow, a light blanket and some snacks.
Sangla is around 2,621 m, Chitkul around 3,450 m and Kalpa around 2,759 m. Late December and early January are deep winter here, so pack thermals, heavy woollens, a windproof jacket, gloves, a warm cap and insulated waterproof shoes for snow.
Expect sub-zero temperatures, sharply so at night. Kalpa and the higher Baspa Valley can fall well below freezing at this time of year.
Winter travel runs on daily road status. Fresh snow can briefly close stretches around Narkanda, Shimla and above Reckong Peo, so keep a buffer and flexible onward tickets.
In deep winter the Sangla to Chitkul road is often snow-blocked and Chitkul's stays largely shut. On these dates Chitkul, Rakcham and Batseri are attempted only if the road is open and safe that day. If they are closed, the Sangla-based day is spent around the safely accessible parts of the valley, and we still keep New Year's Eve in Kalpa.
The New Year's Eve celebration programme, its inclusions and any additional charges are confirmed by your travel consultant before you book. The New Year's Eve dinner is included under the MAP plan.
Homestays and guesthouses have limited heating and timed hot water in winter. Room heaters, where available, are usually chargeable.
Mobile network can be patchy in the interior Kinnaur belt. Carry some cash, as ATMs and digital payments are limited beyond the main towns.
Carry a valid government photo ID. Kinnaur has notified belts where checks apply, and ID is needed at check-ins.
Days start early and drives are paced for safety, since daylight is short and snow slows the roads. On snow days a sturdier vehicle with chains may be used and the route adjusted.
Lunches and meals on the Volvo journeys are not included. Three breakfasts and three dinners are provided on the stay nights only.
Arrival back on 2 January is a morning estimate that depends on traffic and road conditions. Keep onward trains or flights flexible with a comfortable buffer.

What are the exact dates and where does the trip start?

It is a fixed New Year departure from 28 December 2026 to 2 January 2027. You can start and end at Delhi, Chandigarh or Shimla. Delhi and Chandigarh include the overnight Volvo, while Shimla joiners meet the group directly at Shimla without the Volvo legs. Delhi boards on the evening of 28 December and you arrive back on the morning of 2 January. Your confirmed boarding point and timing come with your booking.

Where do we celebrate New Year?

New Year's Eve on 31 December is planned in Kalpa, after the drive from Sangla. We gather for the celebration and dinner, take a group photo and count down to welcome 2027 together. Your travel consultant confirms the celebration programme, its inclusions and any additional charges before you book.

Why are there two nights in Sangla?

The first mountain day is the long drive from Shimla to Sangla. A second night in Sangla gives you a full day for Rakcham, Chitkul and the Baspa Valley without packing again, and you return to the same stay. You then move to Kalpa on 31 December for New Year's Eve.

Does 5 nights mean 5 hotel nights?

No. There are three hotel nights, two in Sangla and one in Kalpa. The other two nights are spent travelling on the overnight Volvo between Shimla and Delhi or Chandigarh. Shimla joiners have the three hotel nights only.

Will we definitely reach Chitkul and Rakcham?

They are the plan for the Sangla-based day, but late December is deep winter. The Sangla to Chitkul road is often snow-blocked and Chitkul's stays mostly shut, so we attempt Chitkul, Rakcham and Batseri only if the road is open and safe that day. If it is closed, we cover the best safely accessible parts of the valley and still keep New Year's Eve in Kalpa. All mountain roads are condition based.

What vehicle and group size can I expect?

Group sizes run from a Micro batch of 3 to 5 up to a Full batch of 16 to 20. Smaller Micro and Small groups, up to 10, travel by shared SUV, and bigger Social and Full batches, above 10, travel by Tempo Traveller. Room sharing is triple by default, with double available.

Is this good for solo travellers, couples and friends?

Yes. You can join on your own, with your partner or with friends. Shared drives, the Sangla-based day and the New Year's Eve evening give everyone plenty of time to meet, and the trip captain makes sure the group gels from Day 1.

How cold will it be, and will there be snow?

Expect cold days and sub-zero nights across the New Year window, with a real chance of snow. Carry thermals, heavy woollens, a windproof jacket, gloves and insulated waterproof shoes. Fresh snowfall depends on the weather, so treat it as a welcome bonus rather than a guarantee.

What kind of stays and meals?

A mix of warm standard hotels, homestays and guesthouses depending on the night and location, with clean rooms and proper bedding. Meals follow the MAP plan: breakfast and dinner on the three stay nights, with food from local kitchens. Lunches and Volvo-journey meals are not included.

Payment for your booking can be made in multiple parts.
Once your first payment is received, you'll get an official email confirmation with your booking summary.
After completing 100% payment, your final Travel Coffee voucher will be issued — containing hotel details, transport arrangements, inclusions, and emergency contact information.
Please double-check traveller names, ID proofs, and travel dates before confirming the booking.

Refund Policy

Eligible refunds will be processed within 10 business days of approval.
Refunds are credited to your original payment method or Travel Coffee wallet, as applicable.
Refund timelines may vary if third-party suppliers (like hotels or transport partners) are involved.
Convenience fees, taxes, and gateway charges are non-refundable.

Cancellation Policy

30 days or more before travel: 25% of total booking cost charged as cancellation fees.
15 to 29 days before travel: 50% of total booking cost charged as cancellation fees.
Within 14 days of travel: 100% of total booking cost charged as cancellation fees.
No-show or last-minute cancellations (after trip start) are non-refundable.
In case of weather disruptions, government restrictions, strikes, or other force-majeure events, alternate arrangements will be offered whenever possible. However, cash refunds are not available in such scenarios.

Payment Term Policy

A minimum 25–50% advance payment is required at the time of booking to block your slots.
The remaining balance must be cleared at least 30 days before travel for domestic trips and 45 days before for international trips.
Last-minute bookings (within 10 days) require 100% upfront payment at confirmation.
All payments must be made only via official Travel Coffee channels (links, UPI, or bank accounts) listed on our website. Payments made to personal accounts or unofficial representatives are not recognised by Travel Coffee.
