No. Shinkula is a new, remote, seasonal high mountain destination, and access depends on weather, road conditions, vehicle rules, and local administration instructions. Our team checks the road status before the excursion, and the driver follows the instructions given around Darcha. If the full route is not legally accessible or safe, the vehicle goes only up to the safest permitted point.

This is important. The upper part of the Shinkula road can be open only to 4x4 vehicles, especially after snowfall or in difficult conditions, while a regular SUV or MUV may run when the route is open for that category. A standard SUV, MUV, or Tempo Traveller is not always a 4x4. If a 4x4 rule applies on your date and your booking does not include one, we may only reach the safest permitted point, or we can arrange a 4x4 at an extra cost after explaining the option. We prefer to be honest about this upfront.

No inner line permit is needed for Indian travellers on this route. Just carry a valid government photo ID for every traveller, since it may be checked around Darcha. Foreign nationals should check the current rules separately.

No. Snowfall, snow walls, and snow on the ground depend entirely on the weather and the season, so they cannot be promised.

Shinkula is about 5,090 metres, roughly 16,700 feet, one of the highest motorable passes in India. That is why the trip moves up gradually through Manali and Jispa and keeps time at the pass short. Jispa sits much lower, around 3,200 metres, which helps your body adjust. Drink water, eat light, avoid alcohol, and tell your driver or our team at once if you feel breathless, get a severe headache, feel sick, or cannot walk properly. Anyone with heart, lung, or other serious concerns should see a doctor before booking.

Jispa is the practical base for this itinerary. You reach it comfortably on Day 3, dedicate Day 4 to Shinkula, and return to the same stay instead of packing again after a long high mountain day. The lower Jispa nights also help your body adjust to the altitude before the pass.

Yes. Chandigarh to Chandigarh and Manali to Manali versions can be arranged, with the itinerary and price adjusted. Chandigarh makes the long driving days much easier, so ask our team while booking if that suits you better.

Day 5 is planned as a meaningful day, not an empty transfer. When the road and timing allow, it includes Shashur Monastery near Keylong, a 17th century Drukpa gompa among blue pines, and a stop around Gondhla village and its old fort. Interior access to Gondhla Fort is not promised. If one stop takes longer, we shorten another to keep the day relaxed, then cross the Atal Tunnel back to Manali for the night.

5 breakfasts and 5 dinners on the stay nights, so 10 meals in total on the MAP plan. Breakfast on the first morning of the drive is not included, and lunches, snacks, and drinks are paid separately.

Mobile coverage gets limited beyond the larger settlements of Lahaul and can drop past Darcha. Carry some cash, since card and online payments are not reliable deeper in Lahaul. A power bank and offline copies of your booking details help.

Day 1 from Delhi to Manali and Day 6 from Manali to Delhi are both long, about 500 to 550 km and 12 to 15 hours or more, so you reach late evening or night. The days in between are mountain sightseeing days at an easier pace.

No, not under this package. The Shinkula excursion returns to Jispa. Gonbo Rangjon, Padum, and deeper Zanskar are on the far side of the pass and need the longer high pass or Zanskar itinerary instead.

No. This product is focused on Shinkula Pass. Deepak Tal, Suraj Tal, and Baralacha La are covered under our separate Baralacha Pass products. If you want both passes, the longer twin pass itinerary is the better fit.
