No, and this is on purpose. Separate days make the trip less tiring, give you more time on each route, and provide better flexibility if conditions on one route change. Trying to do both in one day would be exhausting and risky at this altitude.

Jispa is the practical common base for both routes. You arrive on Day 3, do one pass on Day 4 and the second on Day 5, and return to the same stay after both. You never pack your bags after a long pass day, and the plan gains flexibility. The lower Jispa height, about 3,200 metres, also helps your body adjust before the passes.

Yes, where it helps. Our team may change the order depending on which route is safer or more accessible. For example, if Baralacha is temporarily shut but the Shinkula road is running, we may run Shinkula first and check Baralacha again the next morning. This flexibility does not promise that a closed pass will reopen.

If either route remains inaccessible, we plan the best practical alternative sightseeing available in Lahaul. Any refund or price adjustment, if it applies, follows the recoverable amount and the terms in your final booking confirmation. Hotels, meals, and Volvo are completed services and are not affected.

No. Both Baralacha and Shinkula are seasonal, high, and condition based. Access depends on weather, snow, road status, vehicle rules, and local administration instructions. If the full route is not safe or legally accessible, the vehicle goes only as far as the safest permitted point, and we never push beyond a point that is unsafe or restricted.

No inner line permit is needed for Indian travellers on either route. Just carry a valid government photo ID for every traveller, since it may be checked or recorded around Darcha. Foreign nationals should check the current rules separately.

This mainly applies to the Shinkula day. The upper part of the Shinkula road can be open only to 4x4 vehicles, especially after snowfall, while a regular SUV or MUV may run when the route is open for that category. A standard SUV, MUV, or Tempo Traveller is not always a 4x4. If a 4x4 rule applies on your date and your booking does not include one, we may only reach the safest permitted point, or we can arrange a 4x4 at an extra cost after explaining the option. The Baralacha day is on the main highway, where this is less of an issue.

Baralacha La is about 16,000 feet and Shinkula is about 16,700 feet, one of the highest motorable passes in India. That is exactly why the trip never does both in one day, keeps Jispa at a lower height as the base, and keeps time at the pass areas short. Drink water, eat light, avoid alcohol, and tell your driver or our team at once if you feel breathless, get a severe headache, feel sick, or lose coordination. No. Only the overnight Volvo is a shared bus. All your Manali sightseeing, Lahaul transfers, the Baralacha day, and the Shinkula day are private, in a vehicle used only by the people on your booking.

In Manali, a quality checked 2 star or entry level 3 star hotel. In Jispa, a quality checked equivalent or better stay chosen from the best suitable local inventory for your dates, which may be a hotel, cottage, resort, or premium camp. Jispa is a remote area, so we do not force a city style star rating. The exact properties are shared before your booking is confirmed.

Day 6 is planned as a meaningful day, not a wasted transfer. When the road and timing allow, it includes Shashur Monastery near Keylong, a 17th century Drukpa gompa among blue pines, and a stop around Gondhla village and its old fort if you missed it earlier. Interior access to Gondhla Fort is not promised. Your return Volvo timing stays the priority, and your luggage travels in the vehicle until the Volvo drop.
