Main Highlight
The complete Shimla and Manali circuit with return AC Volvo from Delhi or Chandigarh, 2 nights in Shimla, 2 nights in Manali, Kufri and Green Valley, a private cab for the regular itinerary, and a full mountain day for seasonal Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley
Best Season
During the official Rohtang Pass operating period, once the authorities open the road and until snowfall makes it unsafe. The Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel, and Sissu route is planned for the rest of the year
Ideal For
Couples, friends, and families who want the full Shimla and Manali circuit with Rohtang Pass at sensible value, without paying for a private cab all the way from the plains
Know Before You Go
Reach your Volvo boarding point at least 30 minutes before departure. Boarding points and timings depend on the operator and can change, and your final point, reporting time, and operator contact are shared before you travel. If you are late and miss the Volvo, arranging other travel is not included
The itinerary timings shown here are for the Delhi to Delhi option. If you select Chandigarh to Chandigarh, your boarding point, drop point, timings, and journey duration are different, and we confirm them with you before you travel. The Shimla and Manali stay, the sightseeing, and the Rohtang day stay exactly the same
Volvo seats are allotted by the bus operator, so seats next to each other depend on availability unless confirmed in writing. Pack light, as Volvo luggage space is limited
Please note which parts are private and which are shared. Your Shimla sightseeing, the Kufri day, the Shimla to Manali drive, and your Manali sightseeing are all in a private cab for your booking only. The two Volvo journeys are scheduled buses shared with other passengers, and the Rohtang and Solang day uses a shared or locally authorised vehicle because the permit rules require it. A private authorised vehicle for the Rohtang day can be arranged at extra cost
Shimla's Mall Road and The Ridge are no vehicle zones. Your cab drops you at the nearest allowed point and you walk from there. Many Shimla hotels also sit above or below the road and may need a short walk up steps, so pack light and ask us if anyone in your group needs an easier access hotel. There is also a public lift near Cart Road that connects to Mall Road for a small charge
At Kufri, vehicles stop at a set point and you cannot drive up to Mahasu Peak. From there it is a pony ride or a walk of roughly 30 minutes each way. Pony rates are not fixed, so agree the price clearly before you start. Pony rides, yak photos, activities, and tickets are not included
Jakhoo Temple is not part of the planned sightseeing. If you want to go, you can use the ropeway or local transport at your own cost
Rohtang Pass is seasonal and permit controlled. Having it in the package name means we arrange the excursion when access is officially available. Nobody can promise entry before the permit is issued and the route is confirmed as running. Access depends on the official opening, permit availability, the daily vehicle quota, weather, snow and road conditions, and government or administrative instructions
The Rohtang permit also has a weekly maintenance day when the road is closed to tourist vehicles, and local rules can change. Since your Rohtang day falls on Day 5, you can pick a departure date that keeps Day 5 clear of it. Ask our team while booking and we will help you choose
If Rohtang is not possible, the day changes to Solang Valley, the Atal Tunnel, the North Portal, Sissu, and the Sissu lake or waterfall viewpoint if reachable. The sightseeing vehicle stays included. If that Lahaul route is also shut, we may offer Solang Valley with Sethan, Hamta Valley, or the nearest reachable snow point, depending on permissions, road access, and safety
No refund applies just because the mountain route changes for permit, weather, safety, or administrative reasons, as long as the alternative full day excursion is operated. If neither Rohtang nor the alternative can be run at all, the unused and recoverable amount for that excursion is refunded. Your hotels, meals, Volvo tickets, and other completed services are not part of that refund, and any government permit or congestion charge already issued and non refundable may be deducted
There is no refund if Rohtang is running and the arrangements are made, but you decide not to go, report late, or cannot travel for personal reasons
Snowfall and ground snow cannot be promised. Visiting Rohtang, Solang Valley, or Sissu does not mean there will be fresh snow or a set amount of it. Adventure activities are run by local operators and depend on weather and their own operations
The Shimla to Manali drive is a full mountain day of about 240 to 260 km and 7 to 9 hours. Start early and keep it relaxed. Air conditioning is normally not used on steep mountain roads
On your last day in Manali you check out in the morning but the Volvo leaves in the afternoon or evening. You can usually leave your bags at the hotel reception until your transfer, subject to hotel policy. Your sightseeing order that day depends on the confirmed Volvo departure time
The usual hotel check in time is 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and check out is 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Early check in depends on a room being free and cannot be promised. You can leave your bags and freshen up while you wait
A valley facing room, balcony, lift, central heating, a free room heater, a Mall Road location, or parking right outside the property is not promised unless it is written in your confirmation. The exact hotel names and room categories are shared before your booking is confirmed
Rohtang is high up. If you have breathing problems, heart conditions, or other health concerns, check with your doctor before you travel. Drink water, avoid heavy activity at height, and tell your driver or our team if you feel unwell
Your driver helps with the route and local coordination but is not a professional guide
Carry a valid government issued photo ID for every traveller. Children should carry something showing their date of birth. Carry warm layers, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, basic medicines, and a reusable water bottle
The shown price is a starting price. The final cost depends on your travel dates, hotel availability, room needs, the Volvo fare, the number of travellers, and the Rohtang vehicle arrangement that applies. Peak season and long weekend supplements may apply
The price shown is per person and is the same for adults and children. If you are travelling with a young child who may not need a separate Volvo seat or an extra bed, share their age when you ask for a quote and we will confirm the final amount
Keep a good time gap before booking an onward flight or train after you reach your drop point, since arrival times can shift with traffic, weather, and road conditions

Frequently Asked Questions

You get 4 hotel nights, which are 2 nights in Shimla and 2 nights in Manali, plus 2 overnight Volvo journeys on the Delhi option. You leave on Day 1 and reach back on Day 7, so you use fewer leave days for the full circuit.

Had an absolutely incredible trip exploring Manali, Solang, Sethan, Khokhsar, Sissu, and Darcha, all the way up to Shinkula Pass and Shinkula Top, thanks to Travel Coffee! A huge shoutout to Preeti Jasyal, who helped us a lot throughout the process. She is an amazing person and went above and beyond to help us create the perfect booking. The entire service was seamless and highly effective, and the hotels she selected for us were absolutely amazing with great comfort and views. Driving through those massive mountain terrains can be daunting, but their flawless coordination made the entire journey stress-free. If you're planning a trip to Leh, Ladakh, Spiti, or any of these mountain regions, Travel Coffee is the way to go!
