Your trip starts in the evening from Delhi. Meet the group at the pickup point, board the overnight Volvo, settle in, and rest well. You wake up close to the hills, ready to begin the drive into Kinnaur and Spiti.

Inclusions
  • Overnight Volvo from Delhi to Shimla and from Shimla to Delhi
  • A 4x4 vehicle with snow chains for all the mountain driving and sightseeing, usually a Jimny or Scorpio N based on the group size
  • 6 nights accommodation plus 2 nights on the overnight Volvo. Stays: Chitkul or Sangla (1N), Kalpa (2N), Tabo (1N), and Kaza (2N). The 2 Volvo nights are Delhi to Shimla and Shimla to Delhi
  • Warm, winter-ready homestays and hotels chosen for heating and comfort in the cold, on double, triple or quad sharing as per the package you choose
  • 6 breakfasts (Day 3 to Day 8) and 6 dinners (Day 2 to Day 7). This is the MAP meal plan
  • All sightseeing as per the itinerary. Each stop depends on time, daylight, weather, snow, and road conditions on the day
  • A trip coordinator travels with every group to look after the trip. These expeditions run only as small Micro or Small groups, up to 10 people, so they stay personal and flexible
  • Experienced local drivers who know the full winter Spiti route and are used to driving on snow and ice
  • Help with permits and green tax where needed
  • An emergency oxygen cylinder in the vehicle on every trip (you pay only if you use it)
  • Driver allowance, fuel, tolls, and parking

  • Any cost from a medical emergency, hospitalisation, medicines, oxygen use, or emergency evacuation and rescue. This matters even more in winter Spiti because it is remote, snowbound, and help can be far
  • A backup vehicle unless you add it to your booking. It can be arranged on request for an extra cost, based on availability
  • Any extra cost from snow, bad weather, landslides, road blocks, road closures, or local rules, including any extra stay, food, or travel this causes

Know Before You Go
In winter, Spiti is reached from the Kinnaur side and the trip runs as an out and back on the same route. Kunzum Pass and the Manali side stay snowed shut, so there is no Chandratal and no Manali crossing on this trip
The high villages of Langza, Hikkim and Komik are covered only if the roads are cleared and safe. In deep winter this is weather-permitting and cannot be promised. If they are not open, the day stays around Kaza with safe winter experiences
Spiti is very high and very cold. Drink water, eat light, avoid alcohol, do not overexert, and listen to your trip captain or coordinator. The slow climb through Kinnaur helps your body adjust
Pack seriously for sub-zero cold, especially for the nights in Kaza and Tabo. Think heavy layers, a proper down jacket, thermals, gloves, a warm cap, and good shoes
Winter drives are slower because of ice, snow, and short daylight. Start early and stay flexible. All times are rough guesses
The route can change at short notice based on snowfall and safety. Safety comes first, and we adjust sightseeing and stays as per the conditions on the day
Phone network is weak and patchy after Kaza, and ATMs are not reliable in winter. Carry enough cash
Rooms have heating, but hot water and power can be limited at times in remote winter stays. This is normal for Spiti in the cold months
The oxygen cylinder is for emergencies and you pay only if you use it. It does not replace a doctor. If you have heart or breathing problems, check with your doctor before you book

Frequently Asked Questions

January to March is the sweet spot for a true winter Spiti. This is when the valley is under snow, the rivers begin to freeze, and Kaza feels like a proper cold desert in winter. Snow decides which roads are open, so some flexibility always helps. December can also work at the start of the season, but the deep winter feel is strongest from January onwards.
