Classic Kinnaur & Spiti Winter Group Tour

The group leaves Delhi every Friday evening by overnight Volvo and is scheduled to return to Delhi the following Friday morning. The current departure dates are shown in the booking calendar.

This 8 day version stays overnight in Sangla and Nako, then visits Tabo on the way to Kaza. The 9 day version spends two nights in Sangla and one night in Tabo, a more gradual climb with more time in the Baspa valley. Both have two nights in Kaza and one full Kaza sightseeing day. Choose this for the shorter, lower priced trip; choose the 9 day for the more relaxed route.

The route and overnight stops are similar, but the vehicle differs. The 4x4 expedition runs in a shared Jimny, Scorpio N, or another 4x4 with snow chains. This Classic group tour runs in a Tempo Traveller, shared SUV, or MUV with snow chains, chosen by the group size, which makes it the more affordable option.

Nako lets us shorten the itinerary while still travelling through Kinnaur before entering Spiti, and it is a beautiful high village. It is already above 3,600 metres, so this trip gains altitude faster than the 9 day tour. Keep the evening quiet after arriving and tell the team if you feel unwell.

No. We visit Chitkul on Day 3 only when its road beyond Rakcham is safely open and enough daylight remains for the long drive to Nako. If it is not practical, the team covers Rakcham or the best accessible part of the Baspa valley instead.

Yes, Tabo Monastery is on the planned route and is visited when it is open. Opening arrangements and access to individual sections remain locally controlled.

Dhankar is conditional, covered on the Nako to Kaza day when the approach road, daylight, and group health allow. Dhankar Lake trekking is not included, as it is a high trek that is not safe in deep winter.

No. Gue and its mummy are on a different side road that is usually frozen shut in winter, and Pin Valley is closed in the winter season, so both are deliberately excluded from this package.

The one full sightseeing day is planned to cover the whole circuit, Key, Kibber, Chicham, Langza, Komic, and Hikkim, in that lower to higher order and always weather and road permitting. The team covers what is safely open and sets the order for the day, so treat the full list as the plan when conditions allow rather than a cast iron guarantee.

No vehicle can guarantee access everywhere. The group vehicle runs wherever the driver and local team consider the road safe, and a smaller local 4x4 may occasionally be needed for a high village road. Where that happens, availability and the shared extra charge are explained before it is arranged.

No. Winter generally brings severe cold and seasonal snow to Spiti, but fresh snowfall on your exact dates cannot be guaranteed, and the amount of snow cover depends on recent weather.

Electric blankets are generally provided wherever available and keep the bed warm. Room heaters may be available at selected properties and may be chargeable separately. An electric blanket is not the same as a centrally heated city hotel room.

Hot water is generally provided in buckets during peak winter, since pipes and tanks can freeze, usually about 2 to 3 buckets per person. Continuous running hot water and a daily shower should not be expected everywhere.

Some properties have attached washrooms, but extreme cold can freeze individual plumbing lines. If that happens, guests may need to use another operational washroom, which can sometimes be shared. It is about frozen infrastructure at altitude, not cleanliness.

Connectivity depends on the location, network, and weather and can be unreliable after Kinnaur. UPI and card payments depend on that same connectivity, so carry enough emergency cash rather than relying only on your phone.

An emergency oxygen cylinder is carried with the group and is meant for emergency support. Oxygen use is chargeable under the package policy and does not replace medical care or proper acclimatisation.

The team works with the actual conditions. A departure may move earlier or later, the sightseeing sequence can change, an inaccessible stop may be skipped, or an overnight halt may change. Safety and completing the main journey take priority over ticking off every sightseeing point.

Yes. This is a group departure and solo travellers can book a seat. Room pairing depends on your selected sharing option and the confirmed group, and a single room, where available, costs extra.

Foreign passport holders should contact the Travel Coffee team before booking. The Kinnaur to Spiti stretch passes through protected areas that need an Inner Line Permit for foreign nationals, so eligibility and documents must be checked in advance. Indian travellers do not need a permit for this route.
