Know Before You Go

  • These departures are proposed, not confirmed inventory. The prices are estimates that include a working tax allowance, and the final fare depends on your departure, confirmed rooms and transport. Register your interest and we will quote your dates.
  • This is a small group with a hard maximum of 10 paying travellers. A couple uses two places. The Small group fare is modelled from 8 paying guests. Six or seven travellers, and Micro groups of 3 to 5, are a separate quote. Social and Full Batch sizes are not available for this trip.
  • Overnight coaches between Delhi and the hills are shared scheduled services, described as AC semi-sleeper, Volvo or similar as confirmed. We share the boarding point, reporting time and ticket before you travel, and the coach operator and our phone team support both overnight legs.
  • Your trip captain is with the group on the hill circuit from Aut on Day 2 to the Bir coach boarding on Day 8. The overnight coach legs have phone support, not an onboard captain or a Delhi representative.
  • Twin sharing means two travellers in one room, with separate beds for unrelated travellers unless they agree otherwise, and a couple may request a double. Triple sharing means three disclosed sleeping places, a twin or double plus a proper rollaway or mattress as agreed. We do not put strangers in one bed or hide floor bedding, and if compliant rooming needs an extra room we tell you before you book.
  • Early room check-in on Day 2 is not guaranteed. We arrange breakfast, washrooms, a common area and luggage storage on arrival, and on Day 8 a common area, washroom access and luggage storage until the evening coach.
  • Snowfall, waterfall access and adventure activities are never guaranteed. In December and January we check shaded paths, ice, running water and room heating, and replace an unsafe waterfall path with a village walk, a host-led local food session or time in the common room, within the included budget.
  • Barot depends on road access and suitable accommodation. If Barot cannot operate, the departure runs as two nights each in Jibhi, Shangarh and Bir, clearly labelled as a changed itinerary without Barot, with the revised route explained and your acceptance taken before booking. We never quietly sell all five places when one has changed.
  • There are short walks on uneven paths with steps, and an easier option for every optional waterfall walk. Tell us about any mobility needs before booking so we can check room access and alternatives. You do not need trekking experience.
  • Jalori Pass, Serolsar Lake and Raghupur Fort are not part of this winter base trip. This keeps the time for Tirthan itself and does not hang the holiday on a high-altitude excursion.
  • For flights, land in Delhi by about noon for an evening coach, keeping at least six hours to reach the boarding point, and prefer arriving the day before. For the return, flying on Day 10 with an extra Delhi night is safer. A Day 9 evening flight after 6 pm needs a generous buffer, and delays can still defeat it. Delhi hotels and transfers are extra.
  • Trout angling is not offered in this November to January window, as the official trout fishing closure runs from 1 November to the last day of February.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this trip for?

It is for solo travellers, couples and friends who want to meet a small group and spend time in Himachal's villages, valleys and cafes. Expect simple, welcoming stays, short walks and one long hill transfer. It suits people who enjoy a shared plan with room to slow down. It is not a party coach, a luxury resort holiday or a guaranteed snow trip.

How many hotel nights and meals are included?

Six hotel or homestay nights, two in Jibhi, two in Shangarh, one in Barot and one in Bir, plus two overnight coach nights on Days 1 and 8. You get seven breakfasts on Days 2 to 8 and six dinners on Days 2 to 7, including one hosted local dish. Lunches, cafe orders and the Day 8 dinner are not included.

What do the estimated prices cover, and what changes them?

The estimates are 29,999 rupees per person on triple sharing and 31,999 on twin sharing, based on 8 to 10 paying travellers, and they include estimated taxes. The final fare depends on your departure, confirmed rooms and transport. Christmas and New Year departures are estimated at 36,999 triple and 38,999 twin, with supplier confirmation required, and are priced on request. Micro groups and six or seven-person departures are also priced on request.

How big is the group, and can larger groups join?

This departure has a hard maximum of 10 paying travellers. Micro groups of 3 to 5 are a separate quote. The Small group of 6 to 10 runs the modelled launch fare from 8 paying guests. Social groups of 11 to 15 and Full Batches of 16 to 20 are not available for this trip.

What is the transport like?

Delhi to Aut and Bir to Delhi are shared scheduled overnight coaches, described as AC semi-sleeper, Volvo or similar as confirmed for your departure. In the hills you travel in a dedicated group vehicle for the sightseeing in the plan. There is no night driving of your own, so you save time at both ends.

Do we get a trip captain?

Yes. A trip captain is with the group on the hill circuit, from Aut on Day 2 to the Bir coach boarding on Day 8. The two overnight coach legs are supported by phone and by the coach operator, not by an onboard captain or a Delhi representative.

What are the room-sharing options?

The base plan is triple sharing, and twin sharing is available for a little more. Twin means two travellers in one room with separate beds unless you agree otherwise, and a couple may request a double. Triple means three disclosed sleeping places, a twin or double plus a proper rollaway or mattress as agreed. A single room is a separate quoted option.

Is paragliding included?

No. Paragliding in Bir is optional, weather dependent and separately priced, with public operator indications around 3,000 to 3,500 rupees per person. It is a morning booking with an approved local operator, and the flight length depends on the weather. Non-flyers can enjoy a slower morning in the cafes or a village walk instead.

Will there be snow?

Snow is never promised. This is a winter base trip in the lower valleys, not a snow-guaranteed holiday. In December and January, if a path is icy the captain picks a suitable lower walk or time in the village, and we keep to the included budget.

What happens to Barot in winter?

Barot depends on road access and suitable accommodation. If it cannot operate, the departure runs as two nights each in Jibhi, Shangarh and Bir, with Day 6 becoming Shangarh to Bir by the main road and Day 7 as Bir local time. We label that departure clearly as a changed itinerary without Barot, show the revised route and take your acceptance before any payment.

Are the festive departures any different?

The 19 December departure has Christmas Day as the Bir hotel night, and the 25 December departure has New Year's Eve as the Bir hotel night. Both are estimated at 36,999 triple and 38,999 twin, priced on request with supplier confirmation required. We do not promise a gala, party, DJ or fireworks. These two trips overlap, so each runs with its own captain and vehicle.

How fit do I need to be?

A basic level of fitness is enough. The walks are short and easy, on uneven paths with steps in places, and there is always an easier option for the optional waterfall walks. You can go at your own pace or sit any walk out. Tell us about any mobility needs before booking so we can check room access and alternatives.

Can I go trout fishing on this trip?

Not in this season. The official trout fishing closure runs from 1 November to the last day of February, so trout angling is not offered on these November to January departures. A fish-farm visit is separate, needs permission and is not promised.

How do I hold a place on a proposed date?

These dates are proposals with unknown availability, so use Register interest or Enquire. We confirm a departure once the group, rooms and costs are set, and your booking is then confirmed on the advance amount under the Travel Coffee cancellation and refund policy, which we share before you pay.
